Terms of Service for Tasman Sewing - Sewing Alterations

Effective Date: 26 April 2025

By engaging in sewing alteration services with Tasman Sewing ("we," "us," "our"), you ("Client," "you," "your") agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read these terms carefully before using our services.

 

1. Services Provided

We offer a variety of sewing alterations, including but not limited to:

  • Hemming (pants, skirts, dresses, etc.)

  • Taking in or letting out seams

  • Zipper replacement

  • Custom adjustments to fit or style

  • Other alterations as requested and agreed upon by both parties

All services are subject to the details provided in the client consultation and the specific garment type.

 

2. Pricing & Payment

  • Pricing: Prices for alterations are based on the complexity of the work and the type of garment. You will receive an estimate before work begins.

  • Payment: Full payment is due upon completion of the alteration service unless otherwise agreed. We accept cash, eftpos or internet banking.

  • Deposits: A deposit may be required for certain alterations or for larger projects. This will be communicated at the time of booking.

 

3. Fitting and Measurements

  • Accurate Measurements: It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure that measurements provided are accurate and that the garment fits appropriately at the time of drop-off. We will work to the best of our ability to make the necessary alterations.

  • Fitting Appointments: If a fitting is required for alterations, you must attend the fitting at the scheduled time, or let us know asap if you need to reschedule. Failure to attend may result in delays and additional charges for rescheduling.

 

 

 

4. Timelines & Deadlines

  • Standard Turnaround: Alterations typically take 7-14 business days. However, rush services may be available for an additional fee.

  • Rush Orders: If you need alterations done by a specific date, please let us know before dropping off your garment. We will make every effort to meet your requested timeline but cannot guarantee a rush service unless agreed upon in advance.

  • Delays: We are not responsible for delays caused by circumstances beyond our control, such as supply chain issues, fabric availability, or extreme weather.

 

5. Alteration Guarantee

  • Fit Guarantee: We make every effort to ensure your garment fits as expected. If a fitting issue arises due to our alteration error, we will make necessary adjustments at no additional charge.

  • Client Responsibility: Any change in size or fit after the alteration is completed (e.g., weight gain/loss) is not covered under the alteration guarantee.

 

6. Damaged or Lost Garments

We take great care in handling your garments. However, in the unlikely event that your garment is damaged or lost while in our possession:

  • We will offer to repair the garment at no charge or provide a refund of our service fee based on the damage.

  • We are not liable for any damages caused by pre-existing defects, wear and tear, or unintentional damage during alteration.

  • We are not responsible for any failed alteration, where the garment was brought to us with a pre-existing defect, eg you‘ve knowingly purchased a defect garment and have brought it to us to have the defect corrected.

 

7. Cancellations & Returns

  • Cancellations: If you wish to cancel an alteration, please notify us as soon as possible. Any work that has already been started is non-refundable.

  • Returns: Once alterations are completed and the garment is picked up, we do not accept returns. If there is an issue with the alteration, please contact us within 10 working days for resolution.

 

8. Client’s Responsibility

  • Garment Condition: Clients must ensure that garments dropped off for alteration are in clean, wearable condition. We are not responsible for removing stains or repairing excessive wear and tear.

  • Inappropriate Requests: We reserve the right to refuse alterations if the requested changes are unreasonable, would compromise the garment’s integrity, or fall outside our scope of expertise.

 

9. Privacy & Data Protection

Your personal information, including contact details and any relevant garment information, will be kept confidential. We will not share your data with third parties except as required for processing payment or as mandated by law.

 

10. Disclaimers

  • We are not responsible for any garments that shrink, stretch, or become damaged due to fabric type, laundering, or improper care after alterations.

  • We are not liable for any personal injury or accidents that may occur as a result of wearing altered garments.

 

11. Changes to Terms of Service

We reserve the right to modify or update these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website or notifying clients directly.
